RONNIE DEHAVEN JR TO KICK
OFF SEASON AT VOLUSIA
Winchester, Virginia driver to debut new Pierce Chassis...
Ronnie DeHaven Jr. will kick off his 2010 season at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida for the DirtCar Winter Nationals. DeHaven a former track champion at the Winchester Speedway hasn’t visited Volusia since 2007 and is very optimistic about heading south this year. “I’ve always run better at Volusia then down at Eastbay”, he said. DeHaven will debut a new Bob Pierce Racecars chassis.
DeHaven commented that the success that Jason Fegers had last year made him look at making the car change. “I don’t know if I would’ve looked or not but after the year Jason had we had to look into it. After that my Dad called Bob, both He (Bob Pierce) and Jason have said they’ll help us however they can and that’s a plus”, stated DeHaven. DeHaven has also become a Pierce dealer.
DeHaven’s team for 2010 is a combination of his Father’s team and Jones Motorsports and will carry the car # 19 that Jones has used in the past. “I drove some for Fred Jones in the past including a win in the season ending Octoberfest at the Hagerstown Speedway. Of the teams 2010 plans DeHaven said, “We plan on hitting all of the regions bigger shows including World of Outlaws, Lucas Oil as well as some Three State Flyer races, and then we want to get out on the road for some of the Crown Jewel events.
I’ll also run some Steel Bock races as well as some Crate events. Whenever I can get behind the wheel I’ll take advantage of it”. One thing that could cause adjustments in DeHaven’s plans is that he and wife Jaime are expecting their first child in late July. “That could change a few things as that time gets near but we’re planning on a full season”, he said.
DeHaven also stated, “I really couldn’t do any of this without my Dad and the support not only him of my sponsors and all of the people who help at the shop and at the track. My wife Jaime takes care of all the line ups and keeping my times with the stopwatch and if it came to crunch time she’s been known to dive in and get dirty with the rest of us”. That list includes Ronnie’s Dad Ronnie DeHaven Sr, Fred Jones, Robbie Garrett, Matt Webster and Mike Roland.
DeHaven will be in Pierce Race Cars with Ford power by Pro Power and Leggett Engine Research with Integra Shocks and Springs, Port City Racing using Hoosier tires by HTMA.
The team is sponsored by DeHaven Trailer Sales, FJ Industrial & Mechanical LLC, Peterson Oil Systems, Tantastic Tanning & Massage, A.J. Triplett Enterprises,
Wrisco Aluminum, Base Fuels, Schaeffer’s Oil, Sweet Mfg, Decals by Hipsticker, Simpson Race Products, Quartermaster and Cizmar Rivets.
